Does it make sense to buy a viewer and a back-end archive from the same vendor?

Yes. VNA companies are buying viewer companies and vice versa. 

Can we plug in viewers from other vendors?

Is the unified core a VNA-grade solution?

Does the unified core preclude working with deconstructed solutions?

The Clinical Collaboration Platform can work as an enterprise imaging platform with a unified back end, and it can also work in a fully deconstructed manner. The internal structure is deconstructed, so that any Carestream component can be replaced with a third-party component if necessary. However, because all Carestream components have been built on our unified core, they share the same application infrastructure – including configuration management, user management, audit, log and so on. With Carestream components integrated through the unified core, you can significantly reduce implementation, maintenance and administration costs. And you get optimum performance, with no need to duplicate databases.

Why should I consider a platform with a unified core?

The Clinical Collaboration Platform provides standards-based data capture, management, archiving and distribution for imaging data across the healthcare enterprise. The unified core is the backbone that enables this enterprise-wide imaging and associates all the data for each patient with a single patient record. How do end users pull prior data from the vendor-neutral archive?

How can we image-enable our EMR/EHR via the vendor-neutral archive module of the Clinical Collaboration Platform?

I have departmental PACS, how will I use this solution?

The Clinical Collaboration Platform is vendor-neutral and complements your existing workflow. If there’s a departmental PACS that is managing the diagnostic reporting workflow, the Data Acquisition Management module can help ingest and tag proprietary data for enterprise distribution, such as image-enabling the EMR, patient portal or universal viewer.

How are the various standards used?

Patient context information can be integrated via HL7, FHIR or IHE. Exam context information from the modalities is provided via DICOM or direct web-transfer services.

What is your image lifecycle management strategy?

The Clinical Collaboration Platform offers an Archive module that provides multiple storage tiers, including online, near-line, offline and cloud storage. The metadata you specify can be used to determine the lifecycle migration of clinical records. Recent, high-value content can remain online and accessible in real time, while older content migrates to the appropriate tier automatically, following your specified retention and deletion rules.

A content management provider already manages my image data. What can the Clinical Collaboration Platform do that they can’t?

Traditional content management companies typically handle smaller data sets and general-purpose file formats such as TXT and PDF files.
